McGrady, Yao selected to All-NBA third team

Rockets stars both make All-NBA team for second straight season

HOUSTON -- Despite being slowed by injuries, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming are back on the All-NBA team.

The Rockets' star tandem was selected to the All-NBA third team on Thursday, marking the second straight season that Yao and McGrady have appeared together on one of the league's three honorary teams.

The duo are the first pair of Rockets to be named to one of the three All-NBA teams together on two separate occasions.

McGrady, a seven-time All-Star, had a strong season in leading the Rockets back to the playoffs after the team lost Yao to a season-ending injury. He averaged 21.6 points and 5.9 assists. Despite dealing with shoulder and knee issues over the course of the season, McGrady remained the focale point of Houston's offense.

McGrady, who had his first triple-double with the Rockets in 2007-08, was selected to an All-NBA team for the seventh time in his career and third time with the Rockets.

Yao, a six-time All-Star, continued to emerge as the game's best big man before a stress fracture in his left foot sidelined after the All-Star break. He averaged 22.0 points, a career-high 10.8 rebounds and career-best 2.02 blocks. During an impressive stretch of play in January, Yao was named the NBA's Player of the Month.

The All-NBA teams were selected by the media and members from each of the league's team who regularly cover the NBA.
