John Denton Joins OrlandoMagic.com

ORLANDO – The Orlando Magic have announced that longtime Florida and NBA beat writer John Denton will provide exclusive Magic and NBA coverage on the team’s official website, OrlandoMagic.com.
Denton will provide in-depth coverage of the Magic, including post-game analysis and reports that will only be available on orlandomagic.com. In addition, Denton will write features, daily blogs, participate in Q&A mailbags with readers, and host live chat sessions with fans.
The contents of what Denton writes for OrlandoMagic.com will not be reviewed or endorsed by the Orlando Magic. All opinions expressed by Denton will solely be his own and will not reflect the opinions of the Orlando Magic or its Basketball Operations staff, partners or sponsors. His sources will not be known to the Magic and he will not be granted special access to information beyond the access and privileges that go along with being an NBA accredited member of the media.
“John (Denton) is a highly-respected journalist, not only in the state of Florida, but across the country,” said Alex Martins, Orlando Magic Chief Operating Officer. “We are thrilled to be able to provide fans everywhere his exclusive reports on both the Magic and the NBA every time they log into orlandomagic.com.”
Denton will also contribute articles for the team’s online publication, Magic Magazine, and occasionally appear as a guest on Magic television and radio broadcasts.
A native of Milan, Tenn., Denton worked at Florida Today for the last 12 years and covered the Magic and the NBA from 1998-July 2009. He has also written NBA stories for ESPN.com, USA Today and Hoopsworld.com, and made television appearances on both ESPN’s “First Take” and “SportsCenter” during Orlando’s run to the 2009 NBA Finals. Prior to that, Denton worked at The Jackson Sun in Tennessee for five years. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he played football for two seasons. Denton and his wife, Susan, currently reside in Winter Springs, Fla. with their daughter, Abigail (5).
